I Get Knocked Down, but I Get Up Again....You bullies ain't gonna win

YOU RAISE ME UP

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;

Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;

I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;

I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.

There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;

But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;

I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.

You raise me up: To more than I can be

God is very tangible while living among us. Some are able to see God in the trees, in the wind, in the clouds, in the skies, while others need to be able to touch God. God is here for them as angels in many forms: spouses, dogs, lovers, friends, musicians, artists, co workers, family...the list goes on.

 God gives us so many ways to lift each other, but we humans seem to continually want to bash each other down. Tonight I have a very simple question for you and I hope many will answer it. I want you to honestly, honestly think. When do you rise higher in this world? When a friend's arms (angels wings) lift you to their shoulders, or when you violently knock someone down to only to step a few inches higher by standing on their chest?
God gives us the chance to be the angel and to do the lifting. In fact, God's yoke is light to bare.* But more often we take the seemingly easier road of knocking someone down to gain a few inches.

As the saying goes, Karma can be a bitch. Why bother even giving her a chance??

I try not to bash people but it is all too easy to gossip. Gossip us hurtful si I can be hurtful at times.

We lost a dear friend this week. My partner and she were friends fir 40+ years so they were obviously much closer. I 'rose up' by being there for my Karen. I was there for Patti's family and friends at the hospital and last nights viewing. I will be there today at the memorial service. I will continue to offer support.

I 'rise up' and try to see the best in people. Most people have positive attributes and sometimes they simply need to be coaxed out.

You can be angelic in many ways without having a holier than thou attitude or aura.

When I think of bullying, I often remember my own childhood when I was picked on for being fat or too country. It often hurt me and brought me down and still to this day it can affect me but I am thankful to say that I got up and used those hurtful stones tossed at me to build a pathway to love and forgivenesss. I work on this pathway daily and ask for God's strenght to always help me get up and get going.

You know, there really isn't a middle ground. We either raise people up or we let them fall (or beat them down). When we stand by and do nothing, we are choosing to let them fall on their face. Its easy to get in a place where we are taking care of ourselves and not seeing the needs "out there". Life and faith must be active, never passive.
